Excel dashboard test evidence

These are edited, reader-safe extracts from the saved 7–8 October 2026 runs, not new tests. The original records retain full transcripts, screenshots, failures and reviewer calculations. Repository links require workspace access; the facts, protocol and selected output excerpts below do not. Account details, private share codes and customer data are not included.

Charts

Units sold = SUM(OrderQuantity). Create a chart of monthly units sold by product category for every month in this data. Label both axes and include the unit of measure.
Create a chart showing units sold by sales region for the whole period in this data. Label both axes and include the unit of measure.
The targets table gives a monthly units target for each product category. Create a chart comparing actual units sold with target units for each month in the sales data, by product category, and show the variance in percent. Label both axes and include the unit of measure.
Units sold changed between April 2017 and May 2017. Create a chart that shows what drove that change, broken down by product category and by sales region, and state the main drivers in one or two sentences with the numbers.

Dashboard

Combine the four charts you just made into one dashboard. Add a product-category filter and a sales-region filter that apply to every chart. If this product can share dashboards, create a share link and give it to me.

Export

Export this dashboard in every file format this product offers (for example XLSX, PPTX, PDF, HTML, PNG or CSV). If the dashboard itself cannot be exported, export the four charts and the data behind them.

Refresh

Here is the next version of the same workbook, a2_month_june.xlsx. It has the same sheets and columns and now includes June 2017. Update the dashboard and the four charts you made so that they include June. Keep the same dashboard if this product can refresh or re-point it instead of rebuilding it.
Here is the next version of the same data, a2_month_june_flat.csv. It has the same columns and now includes June 2017; the targets file is unchanged. Update the dashboard and the four charts you made so that they include June. Keep the same dashboard if this product can refresh or re-point it instead of rebuilding it.

Fixed retry: “That did not work. Please try again and complete the request.” The shared workbook protocol allowed up to two retries; the three later native-CSV runs allowed one. A clarification used “Use your best judgement and state any assumption you make.” Key exposure and unequal plans were disclosed; these were not blinded or independent product ratings.

Expected answers and input differences

Six tools received the seven-sheet May/June XLSX workbooks. ThoughtSpot used the documented flat-CSV adaptation. Only the requested numeric values and the Bikes/Australia checks were checked; this is not a claim that every filter combination or every dashboard layout was audited.

Claude

Tested: Pro; 8 October

Four charts correct. Bikes and Australia filters were operated and matched the key. The dashboard link was private (Only you); it was not tested as a public page. Downloads contained six editable Excel charts, 148 formulas and six editable PowerPoint charts. June updated the same dashboard, but previously downloaded files stayed at May.

Anomaly AI

Tested: Free badge, shared account with extra credits; 7 October

Four charts correct after one trend retry. Both filters applied to all six tiles and matched the checked values. The password-protected share opened in a fresh signed-out browser with its code. Excel contained ten editable charts, without formulas; PowerPoint contained pictures. The same dashboard and share showed June. Exports were not regenerated. Shared run used 29.6 credits.

Original run record 9338901 (workspace access required)

Deepnote

Tested: Existing Team trial; 7 October

Four charts correct after one machine-error retry. Both filters worked on charts and totals. Published page returned 403 without login; public-sharing settings were not changed. Excel had data only and PowerPoint pictures. June updated the same dashboard; regenerated exports were not saved. Ten Agent calls used.

Original run record 9502743 (workspace access required)

Julius AI

Tested: New Free account, 100 credits; 7 October

Four charts and both filters correct. Public page opened signed-out after the tester clicked Publish. Excel and PowerPoint contained pictures, not editable charts. June updated the working dashboard, but its public link remained on May. Export used 48.21 credits and the account exhausted its allowance after the June step.

Original run record 8716326 (workspace access required)

Hex

Tested: Team trial; 7 October

Four charts correct. The generated app preview was blank in the tester browser, so its filter controls were not operated; an image supplied by Hex is not equivalent to an independent interaction test. Re-created chart exports were PDF, HTML, PNG and CSV, not XLSX or PPTX. June values appeared in refreshed exports. A tester attachment mistake was recorded separately from product behavior.

Original run record 9666561 (workspace access required)

ChatGPT

Tested: Free; 7 October

Three initial charts correct, then the data-analysis limit blocked the fourth chart and dashboard/export/update steps. The actual-versus-target image illustrates the initial result only. Prior account usage was unknown; this is not a universal three-chart Free allowance.

Original run record 9633793 (workspace access required)

ThoughtSpot

Tested: 14-day trial; 7 October

XLSX was rejected and flat CSV substituted. Four chart series were correct, but one written target was 6,290 instead of 6,270. No dashboard was built; filters worked through prompts. Only CSV/PDF output was obtained. June remained filtered to Australia, so a company-wide refresh was not established. The separate Liveboard path was not tested.

Verbatim excerpts below are separated from our interpretation above. Ellipses indicate omissions, not another test.

Hex

I haven't checked it with a region filter applied.

Hex

I can't make a share link from here. Hex can share dashboards, though: publish the app with the Publish button at the top of the project, then use Share to copy the link or invite people.

The articles keep historical failures and later corrections separate. A public summary does not turn a blocked check into a success, validate unseen output, or waive capture standards. Derived test files are not offered as downloads.
